the furious march
"The Furious March
The moment here captured was a very special one. After an hour walk along the beach, I finally reached this place. The forecast was not good, and I could see a huge mass of dark thick clouds marching to the beach, where they would probably unleash all their fury. Anyway, I had the urge to go there and take some photos. Unfortunately the sky was uninteresting, and the closer the clouds got, the stronger the wind got. It reached a point where I was having extreme difficulty in grabbing the camera and pointing it to something. Worst than that, it would probably rain in a few moments, and another hour walk to return was awaiting me.
Without explanation, and as most of you know when we photograph nature we do lots of things without explanation, I chose to stay there, and waited to see the results of that mass of clouds interacting with the strong summer sun. This is the result of that wait. I only had 1 minute to photograph this exact point where the sun met the clouds. It was a matter of adjusting the ND grad, holding the camera as strong as I could, and try to properly expose the scene.
One curious element in this photo is the fisher. He was there, on his tiny boat, earning a living, perfectly integrated in the environment, while I was a bit scared with the upcoming storm. :-)
Needless to say the I spent one hour walking back under a massive rainstorm, and reached my car completely soaked in water. Again, without explanation, I walked with a huge smile, and was the only lunatic on that huge beach..."
