nuneham courtenay lock cottages
by robert harris
- Medium

Traditional
- Artist Notes
- The Lock Cottages were in the grounds of Nuneham Courtney House, Oxfordshire and were designed along with the rustic bridge as a 'romantic eyecatcher' by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown.
It was quite a tourist attraction when boating on the river Thames in Victorian times, but sadly the cottages and bridge have long since been demolished and the site now is unrecognisable.
Definitely a paradise lost.
The size of the painting is 90 x 90 x 3 cm. and is on stretched canvas.
