- A still and peaceful morning on the River Kwai in Western Thailand. The River Kwai - or the Khwae Yai River, as it is more accurately known - is a tributary of the the Mae Klong River, which flows through Western Thailand. It came to the world's attention during World War II, as the infamous Burma railway crosses the river at Kanchanaburi, not far from where this picture was taken.
