victoria crowned pigeon eye
- Artist Notes
- The Victoria Crowned Pigeon calls the lowland and swamp forests of northern New Guinea and surrounding islands home. They eat mainly fruits, figs, seeds and invertebrates; and breed one egg at a time. It is the largest pigeon on the planet, but unfortunately hunting has left its numbers low, and it is considered vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Square crop.
