- The impossible greens of a rice - or paddy - field are dazzling to the eye. A couple of simple huts, home to the farmer, are dotted about the field. In the distance you can see the terraces of more rice fields; much of the land at this level is cultivated. The foothills of the Himalayas are lush and green, in contrast to the stark scenery higher up.
