- Detroit River Overview
The Detroit River and its surroundings are bathed in the light of late afternoon. From high in the Renaissance Center the Milliken State Park and Harbor, Chene Park, and River Place may be seen. The MacArthur Bridge crosses the river to Belle Isle, a favorite Detroit city park. A portion of the city of Windsor, Ontario, our Canadian neighbor, is visible across the river on the far side of Belle Isle. In the distance is Lake St. Clair whose waters flow into the Detroit River on their way to Lake Erie. All are part of the Great Lakes waterway which eventually empties into the St. Lawrence seaway and finally into the Atlantic Ocean. © 2012 Ann Horn. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
