© 2012 RC deWinter ~ All Rights Reserved ________________________________________________________________________________________________ filling my plate ________________________________________________________________________________________________ contemplating the millennia through a two-way mirror, seeing the future without it seeing me, avoiding that appointment in Samarra as long as possible, squeezing every drop of life that can be wrung from the now, wanting as much as can be had – greedy or not, here I come! elbows out, determined to find my portion of happiness before the cloaked stranger puts his chilly hand on my shoulder and summons me to his barren waiting room to cool my heels for an eternity. pushing my plate forward, rapidly filling it with all the sweet and solid sustenance I can reach, no time to waste! I have done enough wasting along my careless path, littering the roadside with the excess of plenty that has graced my life, not knowing that someday I might need some of those gifts to buy my way into the always uncertain future. ~ © 2012 Regina Coeli deWinter
