© 2011 RC deWinter ~ All Rights Reserved ________________________________________________________________________________ Feeding the Flame ________________________________________________________________________________ Deep down in the dark of denial there flickers a flame that – fanned by the winds of a thousand false hopes – defies sudden showers of shame. ________________________________________________________________________________ I long for the day I can own it, the heat of that fire, awaiting the footfalls of one who will know the contours of honest desire. ________________________________________________________________________________ Then will this heart blossom, denial's cloak shot straight to hell; no longer afraid of the scorn of the strong, the flame burning brightly and well. ________________________________________________________________________________ No tears of self-pity, no fantasies then to regret, but, held in the hand of the one who should hold, will flower in passion well met. ~ © 2011 RC deWinter
