© 2011 RC deWinter ~ All Rights Reserved __________________________________________________________________________________ Cultivation __________________________________________________________________________________ Unfolding blithely as a summer lily to the sun, My love for you wide open to the sky, Each petal upon petal nestled close upon the other, Perfumed, mysterious, anointed with the dew of passion, But blooming only for the chosen one, My love, for you alone these colors fly. __________________________________________________________________________________ There have been many stop to gaze upon this blossom rare, And others pause to breathe its sweet perfume But none has had the courage or the wisdom to transplant it, To nurture, overwinter and protect this fragile flower, To shine the light of love not one would dare, Then wondered why the blossom failed to bloom. __________________________________________________________________________________ But you, my love, have lavished me with all your sweet concern, And cherished me though scent and color fade, Secure in the belief that once the winter has been weathered This bud will once again burst forth in all its splendid glory, Will once again to lusty life return, Acknowledging the care you have displayed. ~ © 1997, 2011 RC deWinter
