© 2011 RC deWinter ~ All Rights Reserved ~ ~ ~ "Ha, ha, ha, you and me, Little brown jug, don't I love thee!" Although the song Little Brown Jug wasn't written by Joseph Winner until 1869, I'm sure American colonials loved their little brown jugs too. This one, dating to the early 18th century and sitting under a table of the same vintage, was likely used to hold beer or ale, since the water back then was often not safe to drink.
