© 2011 RC deWinter ~ All Rights Reserved _______________________________________________________________ Old Stone Wall in April _______________________________________________________________ See! – there – in crevices unmortared, Left open to the wind and world, The blown and fallen bits of forest lie. ___________________________________________________________________ There, birch bark – curling, peaceful, Lies hard against the ancient stone Uncovered by the glacial ages past. ___________________________________________________________________ Here lengths of broken branches Rest, freed from patriarchal trees To crumble quiet into fertile soil. ___________________________________________________________________ Though man has built this boundary Time’s careless hand has fashioned This gathering of nature’s endless change. ~ © 2011 RC deWinter
