© 2011 RC deWinter ~ All Rights Reserved ________________________________________________________________ Classical study of a grouping of apples. ________________________________________________________________ These are Pinova apples, originally bred in Germany from the old varietals 'Cox’s Orange Pippin and Duchess of Oldenburg', then crossed with 'Golden Delicious'. ________________________________________________________________ Sold under the trademark name of 'Piñata' (a combination of Pinova and 'Sonata', an alternative appellation) by one Washington State grower, Stemlit, there are independent orchards who have retained the right to cultivate and sell this apple under its original name.
