The sun is shining and there is no wind, But the stillness – the unnatural stillness – Is uncanny on a Sunday morn. __________________________________________________________________ There should be people in their finery All dressed for church, parasols shading Pale skin, bowler hats topping trimmed And slicked down hair on all the men. But there’s no one out the windowpanes. __________________________________________________________________ Perhaps we always knew this was coming, In our unconscious minds. A wave of unseen warning threaded, Mind to mind, that keeps us safe inside This unnatural, quiet, sunny Sunday morn. ~ © 2010 RC deWinter
