The Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau Invitational Big Wave Surfing Contest was held at Waimea Bay December 8th 2009 attracting surfers and spectators worldwide. The 25th anniversary of what is widely considered the world’s most prestigious big wave competition was held in 30 – 50 ft. surf before a crowd estimated up to 30,000. A live webcast attracted more than a million more viewers.
