Originally built as an inn in the 18th century, this ornate homestead on the green in Tolland, Connecticut is now the Hicks-Stearns Family Museum.
~ ~
In the late 19th century, the original exterior was refurbished in Victorian ‘Painted Lady’ style. Gingerbread trim was added, along with a three-storey tower and a new carriage house. Over time, three generations of the Hicks family occupied this residence.
~ ~
Today it is a museum filled with heirlooms and other family memorabilia; the museum is included in the Tolland Green Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
