Mordred, identified as King Arthur's bastard son by his sister Morgaine le Fay (some accounts list Mordred's mother as his other sister Morgause, wife of King Lot of Orkney), directs his army at the fatal battle between father and son. Mordred was killed outright by Arthur, but managed to inflict a wound that proved fatal to the king.
