- Crow always alerts me to the presence of Hawk. This morning riding my bike in to work, I heard them screaming and knew that Hawk was around. Looked up and sure enough, a huge Red Tail Hawk flew into a very tall pine tree about 300 feet from me.
I pulled out my camera and got this shot, along with several others. By the time I was able to take the shots, the Crows had left the 'guarding of space' to a few Mockingbirds. This one held it's ground until a group of them arrived to finally chase the Hawk off.
In this photo, it almost looks as though Hawk is trying to decide if he will eat the little fella or if he is just annoyed at all the noise. Hawk eventually flew to a couple of pine trees trying to escape the flock of birds who were relentless in their chase of him. Their tenacity and bravery always amaze me as this Hawk could have killed them easily.
