Artist Notes
© 2010 RC deWinter ~ All Rights Reserved Oblivious to the cold rain pelting him from the unglazed, iron-barred window, Guy of Guisborne - often incorrectly called 'Sir Guy of Guisborne', for he was a yeoman, not a lord - pledges his services to the Sheriff of Nottingham. These brave words - 'I can capture this villain Robin Hood' - are ironic in light of the fact that Robin Hood will slay him during a fierce and bloody sword fight in Sherwood Forest. Note the banner on the wall - although not completely visible, it is emblazoned with the medieval name for Nottingham - Snotingeham.
