The Great Blue Heron is a favorite subject for Dan, albeit an elusive one. Herons are quite skittish by nature and the slightest move can send them to a squaking flight. While in Long Beach, California on business, Dan rushed down to the harbor one evening after work to catch the last of the day's light. While walking along the marina docks, he was as startled as this Great Blue when they spotted each other. Fortunately, neither reacted too hasily and the majestic shaman of the wetlands was captured against the royal blue of the harbor waters. Dan thanked this spirit guide for the opportunity!
