Mark Twain said that
and of Hawaii
"the loveliest fleet of islands
that lies anchored
in any ocean"
The Garden Island's grand attraction
can be enjoyed from Kokee Road
and its panoramic lookouts
but to fully appreciate its
stunning beauty
take the 3000 ft descent
to Waimea Canyon's forested floor
via the Kukui Trail.
Better be in shape it is steep.
Best go when dry as the river
is prone to flash floods
Spend a week
and follow Waimea River
up into Koaie Canyon
where you will find
deep clear pools
and serenity.
