The small water feature in the backyard home / studio garden is a treasure trove of material for Dan in all seasons. In the Summer, when the leaves have fully flushed out, the sky and plant life add a darker, more mysterious reflective color to the pond's surface and the bubbles from the waterfall dance almost eerily along. Dan is astonished to this day at the figures and faces that appear on the surfaces of the bubbles in various stages of their brief lives. With this particular image, he attempts to capture the bubble at the exact moment of its expiration -- the result seeming both dark and scary as well as hopeful and promising, a combination of both being and nothingness; annihilation and eternity. The garden and all of its contents are a constant source of inspiration and a National Wildlife Federation Certified Backyard Habitat.
