Artist Notes: From the Pixel Play Collection

The wonderful world of fractals and other pixel bending effects was revealed to Dan upon upgrading to Adobe Photoshop CS4. This lava mandala composite emerged from experimentations with a variety of filters and was created from the image "in the beginning" from the "Hawai'i Collection." The lava mandala is suggestive of both the creative and destructive forces of Pele at the beginning of time and throughout the ages.
