hipa kane ko a pele

by daniel g walczyk
Artist Notes
From the series Elemental Reflections

Hipa kane ko a Pele is symbolic of the way the unconscious can overtake the habits of the conscious mind and lead it to higher meaning. Without prior study of Huna symbology and Hawaiian mythology, Dan's telepathic/empathic connection with Pele while visiting the islands resurfaced when processing images from Hawaii's Volcanoes National Park. Several of the images reflect, in both a literal and figurative sense, the focusing of aka, the raw material and energy of the universe toward a higher quality of Light - to akua - through creativity, the activation of our consciousness.
