Artist Revenue Sharing Info
Here is how the revenue sharing works in a practical sense:
| Canvas Print 20"x30" | |
| Base Price (printing cost): | $35 |
| Retail Price: | $120 |
| Profit you make on the sale: |
| $120 |
| - $35 |
| $85 |
| $85 / 2 = $42.50 |
| $42.50 is the profit you make on the sale. |
NOTE: these prices may not reflect the prices of your work.
Paying the Artist
The artist is currently paid quarterly based on sales from artwork. At the end of each quarter, we take out all printing costs (base price) associated with your artwork, and then, split the rest with you 50/50. You can choose, in the Artist Access Center, whether you would like to receive payment via PayPal or by Check (checks sent to pay international artists require a $6 fee, which will be withdrawn from the payout). Payouts sent via check must of at least $20.00 USD. Below is our payout schedule:
1st Quarter ends March 31st (paid on or before April 20th)
2nd Quarter ends June 30th (paid on or before July 20th)
3rd Quarter ends September 30th (paid on or before October 20th)
4th Quarter ends December 31st (paid on or before January 20th)

related details are done in the Artist Access Center.
Definitions
Base Price:
The base price is the cost we assume to create the print. The base price is retained solely by The Untapped Source. Our base price is low in order to ensure our valued featured artists make a good profit off prints without having to price the work unnecessarily high. Compare our base prices on the Canvas and Textured media types to other sites to see another example of our intentions to be fair to the artists without compromising quality at all.
Suggested Retail Price:
The suggested retail price is the price we have set to ensure a profit on the sale of the print. IF YOU ARE CHOOSING TO PRICE YOUR PRINTS, YOU MUST PRICE IT AT OR ABOVE THE SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE.
Types of Prints:
1) Matte, Glossy, and Luster prints should all be considered as high quality poster prints.
2) Canvas prints are fine art prints done on high quality PremierArt Waterproof Canvas, the best there is!
3) Textured prints are done on Museum quality papers and set the standard for fine art printing on paper.
NOTE: All artwork can be sold in all 5 paper types and in multiple sizes depending on it's aspect ratio and max printing size (which we determine), or you can specify with us how you want your work represented.
You can price your own work, or leave it up to us!

Image submission guide
Work (digital files of artwork) submitted to The Untapped Source by artists for display in our gallery, via the Artist Access Center, must be of sufficient quality to produce high quality reproductions.
File Size is judged on a case by case basis. The clarity of the image is the most important factor in creating great reproductions. File size, in Megabytes (or MB) for instance, is not the most important indicator of a great print.
Prints are done at a minimum of 150 resolution and a max of 300 resolution. With the quality of printers we use for our reproductions, it’s almost impossible to see the difference between 150 and 300 resolution prints of the same work.
When you submit work, we will let you know if we have any issues with the quality of the digital file via the Artist Access Center. We strive for great quality in our reproduction work, and it all starts with having a great source from which to print!
Below you will find some general guidelines for work submitted per size of print:
CLICK
HERE TO VIEW FULL PRICING/SIZING CHART
NOTE: This chart should be used as a general guideline regarding image size, and will not always reflect either a poor of excellent quality of print. A file will be rejected for printing if it is pixelated, blurry, has too much "noise" etc...If you have any questions regarding a particular file or about file size in general, let us know.
Piece Submission FAQ
Do I have to submit an image at a ratio (size) that exactly
matches a print size currently offered by The Untapped Source?
We only offer prints at the sizes described on this page (see
above). If an image is submitted in a ratio unfit for the above
sizes, we will either crop or border the image to meet those requirements.
Is any image with any resolution or aspect ratio printable?
Yes, but again, resolution usually is an initial indicator of
print quality. Regarding aspect ratio, we use a roll paper sheet
printing system, so nearly every imaginable aspect ratio can be
reproduced in such a way that the original work is properly maintained.
However, unless we have made special arrangements with the artist,
we will only be printing your work at our specified, standard
print sizes as shown in the above print pricing section. Again
the quality of the file is the key to a great print. If the submitted
digital image is clear at the sizes we wish to produce (at a minimum
resolution of 150), it will be considered acceptable for The Untapped
Source Gallery.
My piece is not the resolution or DPI you recommend.
Can it still be displayed and reproduced for sale in The Untapped
Source Gallery?
In some cases yes. When we receive your digital file that you
have uploaded via our Artist Access Center, we will always examine
the image to make sure it is print-worthy. The best way to tell
whether a file is print worthy is to examining it closely for
clarity and overall quality. For example, if an image is to be
printed at 20x30", it should look clear and non-pixilated
(not have jagged edges on what are supposed to be smooth, fine
lines) when set at 20x30" on your computer screen. It is
also important to remember that images submitted for print purposes
be at least a resolution of 150. In some instances, images with
a resolution as a low as 100 will be acceptable for print if the
image is of exceptional quality.
What file type should I use when submitting my work for
printing?
Your printable file should be a .JPG, .PNG or .TIFF file. If you
use the .TIFF format, it should be saved as the lossless compression
type, LZW. The final file should be derived from your original,
full size printable file. We do all the sizing for the web.
What is DPI?
DPI is short for "Dots Per Inch" and means the number
of printed dots per square inch of a print. The more dots per
inch, the smoother and generally higher quality the print will
be. The dimension in pixels of your image on any given length
divided by the DPI will give you the size of your print for that
dimension. For example, if you had a 3000 x 2000 image, printing
at 100 DPI would yield a 30" x 20" print. Printing that
same image at 1000 DPI would yield a 3" x 2" print.
What is an aspect ratio?
Aspect ratio is a measurement of the proportion of your image.
The largest side divided by the smallest side of your image will
give you your aspect ratio. Aspect ratios are typically presented
in the format #:1 -- that is, # pixels on your largest side for
each 1 pixel on your shortest side. A 3000 x 2000 image would
have an: (3000 / 2000) = 1.5:1 aspect ratio.
Why can't I just resize my image to a larger size?
Resizing (or "resampling") adds pixels to your image
to make it larger. The problem is that the larger you resample,
the less of your original image quality is present in your print.
You have a specific amount of quality and detail in your original
image, and "resampling" will only decrease those. Careful
resampling in small steps, can be an effective way to slightly
increase your printable dimensions, generally up one printable
size.
How is my artwork protected from being copied?
All artwork is displayed using a lower resolution copy of the
file in conjunction with our zoom tool application to restrict
users from being able to save or copy your artwork.
What are The Untapped Source guidelines regarding copyrighted
images?
It is the responsibility of each artist featured in our galleries
to research the copyright validity of the work they submit for
display and sale. The Untapped Source will try it's best to not
display for sale work that is obviously an infringement on a copyright
or trademark, and if an issue of the sort comes to our attention,
work will be immediately taken off of the site until the issue
is resolved. We take copyright issues very seriously.
Is my personal information secure?
Absolutely. We will never distribute or sell the personal information
you provide via your Untapped Source account. This includes email
addresses, credit card info, phone number, or any other personal
data. Please see our privacy policy.
